That is the wrong car related social distancing. You really need to get away from anything approaching modern at all

Depends n what your looking for. If the economy indeed takes a overdue huge correction, you might find this possible but you might be so affected you cant buy. A caveat. I may be in position to do that. I would love to find a gre at 924turbo (924 Carrera better) or 308gt4 but first priority is the mini rebuild that was put off for 6 years.

Otherwise, where to put such extra cars is another problem.

No. I have been thinking about since my colleagues started talking about a possible recession a year ago. All the no reserve auctions on BaT have gone HELLA low.

Same here. I’m sitting on a pile of cash that I almost dumped into the market in late February. Now that I dodged that bullet it’s going to be tempting to use its increased buying power on a toy. Preferably something German with a soft top as it warms up here. If this 986 Boxster S with only 30k near me sits much longer I may see if I can steal it for a few thousand less...

Ive stopped even looking at cars until we have a definite deadline for when the restrictions will be lifted. I was in the process of buying one when this shitshow started and decided to eat the nonrefundable $500 deposit and conserve the rest of my cash.

I was considering selling/trading the M3 to be able to spend a little more on a 911. That is obviously out now, but as someone else said space is an issue. I’ve got a single lane garage with a car tent at the end and 4 cars.

While you are only one person, you work in a hospital. Regar dl ess of what you do, you have the opportunity each day to help in the care of the sick and injured. At times like this, you make even more of a difference.

From an economic standpoint, you are only one person. You didn’t make the market go up, and you certainly didn’t make the market go down.

So yeah, if you get a great deal on a car this summer, that’s just supply and demand.

(just don’t gloat over it, and be careful what you wish for. A collapsing market also means lots of unemployment. It may not be you, but it could be many people you know. It’s not as much fun going to a friends house to show off your new car when he’s three weeks from being homeless. )

Not at all. The problem you'll find is that Boomers often had lots of kids...so that might take a big of sorting out.

I know this is the most tempting Boxster color combo to me... I’m just hoping its still there once we get COVID under control because Santa Fe has cases and I really don’t want to go there for anything other than necessities right now.

It is only human to desire some reward that directly stings those placing you under duress. Maybe intellect will prevail when you are out of harms way and a more calmly reasoned set of actions will appeal.

Stay safe Mr. x snow pig

Yeah, hoping to be able to buy people’s stuff for cheap because they’ve been put in a shitty economic situation or dead  is a very shitty thing to think.

I’m guessing you’re an MD?

I still troll for affordable Citroen Traction Avants from time to time...

sadly It looks like I should have bought 10 years ago :P

though this 15-6 looks like a lovely heap of trouble...

who doesn’t want a 70 year old FWD car capable of nearly 100MPH,  constant overheating issues, and snapping driveshafts at the drop of a hat?

The Traction Avante is just about the oldest car I would ever consider owning, but the age comes with a whole heap of other problems. Still an absolutely astounding car; I hope to see one in person one day.

If you don’t buy that car...

I might.

an S with the 3.2 and 6-speed, AND Rainforest Green?

That is my ideal 986 Boxster, pre-981.

I want that, or a 996 narrow body coupe in that same color, with a bit of the GT3-style aero-kit. Change out the turbo twist wheels for some grey-center Tech Art Formula staggered-diameter and width 17-18 wheels... * Wunderschön *

It actually rates slightly higher than Arctic Silver over Boxster Red Leather for me... But with silver on red, I would black out the windshield frame, and get some bronze on the wheels and side intake ducts, to replicate the concept car’s look... and maybe do an RS60 style un-hooded gauge cluster and body-colored center console, red-out tail lights, etc... And maybe some red rear fender spear graphics like old 550 Spyders.

They are surprisingly small in person. But the interior space is well utilized, and the comfort and handling are indeed astounding. By the end of production in the 50's, it wasn’t quite s o unique, but to think you could have had something that drove like that in the 30's is mind-blowing.
